My 90 minute Yin Yoga workshop offers the space to really slow down, soften and relax. Yin Yoga is a slow, mediative style of yoga, where postures are held for several minutes at a time, so participants can access deep tissues, such as the connective tissue and the fascia. Many of the postures focus on areas involving joints i.e hips, sacrum and spine. Yin applies moderate stress with the aim of increasing circulation in the joints and improving flexibility, but at the same time is lovely and relaxing. Take some time for yourself and discover how wonderful it can feel to let go and surrender into a slow Yin practice.
Whether you are a regular, beginner or simply intrigued, this workshop is a great gift to your mind and body!
More about Yin Yoga
Yin yoga is mainly a floor-based practice where postures are held for up to five minutes. The connective tissue (or Fascia) of the body is released through slow stretching. This can help to create more ease in the body, as it is often our Fascia that creates stiffness. We need both ‘Yang’ (dynamic) movement to build muscular strength and Yin (slow stretching) to create balance. Yin yoga is a quiet and contemplative practice which allows space for both the body and mind as it has the potential to be meditative. The energetic body is also worked in Yin yoga in a subtle way, through the pressure applied to the Meridian pathways we can shift our energy, which can become stagnant. Yin is great for anyone and everyone – whether you just was a time to relax and de-stress, or if you are a sports person who wants to really stretch out a tired and stiff body.
